2011-ON “Sensors system for detection and tracking Of dangerous materials in order to increase the airport Security in the indoor landside area (SOS)” project funded by the European Commission within the Seventh Framework Program in the Call PEOPLE-2011-IAPP, Industry-Academia Partnerships and Pathways; the project is aimed at establishing a strategic longer term industry-academia partnership to face the research challenges related to the development of non-intrusive and pervasive surveillance systems for indoor public areas, based on an innovative combinations of passive radar technology, novel detection and tracking systems in various electromagnetic frequency range, and sensitive data processing.

2012 Research project for "Development of a multi-channel passive radar prototype based on Digital Video Broadcasting - Terrestrial (DVB-T) transmissions" funded by the University of Rome "La Sapienza". Project Leader: F. Colone.

2007 Leader of the Work Packages “Wide-band nulling techniques” and “Adaptivity and secondary data” in the project “Study and development of enabling technologies for SAR ECCM (SAR ECCM)” funded by the Italian Space Agency (ASI). The project aimed at the design of a ECCM system exploiting antenna based nulling techniques for the COSMO-SkyMed SAR of Second Generation. Project Leader: Prof. P. Lombardo. Partners: MECSA (Univ. of Florence), IMT s.r.l., Thales Alenia Space.

2005-2008 “Passive Bistatic Radar” project funded by Finmeccanica inside the Radar Research Centre built by industries and universities operating in the radar area.

2004-2006 Two-year Project on “Innovative algorithms for radar target detection and tracking” funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MIUR). The activity of the Research Unit (RU) of the University of Rome was focused on the development of algorithms for adaptive clutter cancellation and slowly moving target detection in air- or space-borne bi/multi-static radar systems. Project Leader: Prof. G. Ricci (University of Lecce). RU Leader (Univ. of Rome): Prof. P. Lombardo.

2004-2005 Two-year project “Bistatic STAP techniques for slowly moving radar target detection” funded by the University of Rome “La Sapienza”. Project Manager: Prof. P. Lombardo.

2004 Leader of the Work Package (WP) “MTI (Moving Target Indication)” in the project “MSAR2G: Multi-Beam SAR of Second Generation” funded by the Italian Space Agency (ASI). The project aimed at the design of a multichannel sensor starting from the COSMO-SkyMed SAR of First Generation developed by Alenia Spazio under contract of ASI and Italian Ministry of Defense. The WP had the objective to select the best antenna sub-array configuration for MTI and asses the expected performance in the detection of the ground slowly moving targets. Project Leader: Prof. P. Lombardo. Partners: Univ. of Pisa, Univ. of Pavia, Univ. of Florence, Univ. of Naples, IMT s.r.l.

2003 One-year project on “Interference adaptive rejection on GPS and Galileo for the air traffic control (ATC)” funded by the University of Rome “La Sapienza”. Project Manager: Prof. P. Lombardo.

2002-2003 Two-year collaboration of the INFOCOM Dept. with FIAR S.P.A. (Finmeccanica Group) on “STAP techniques detection and localization performance analysis with application to side-looking phased array antennas”. INFOCOM Supervisor: Prof. P. Lombardo. FIAR Supervisor: Ing. P. Tellini.

2002-2003 Collaboration with the Archaeological Dept. of the University of Rome “La Sapienza” for the GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar) prospection of archaeological sites in Western Sicily (funded by the University of Rome). The activities included prospection campaigns in the island of Mozia (Sicily) and the subsequent data processing. Supervisor: Prof. T. Bucciarelli.
